Lena Wurz uses text, letters and language in general, in order to explore meaning in her work. Re letter is an installation of letters hanging from the ceiling. It is 'a forest of words' as she calls it. Lena had drawn some sketches along with some text on envelopes in order to express feelings that she wanted to get rid of. She then decided to send them away to random international addresses and got a reply from Canada. This exchange of letters inspired Lena to create this 'forest of words' flying in the air 'just like they flew from Canada to London.' Lena's representation of letters flying explore the journey and the distance that a letter can cover as well as themes of communication.

This approach to topography and the concept of the journey is also explored in her work Transparent Drawings. The Transparent Drawings were a result of Lena's preparation for a tube exhibition in London. Lena drew on the London tube, on the plane to Germany, on public transport in Germany and then back to London. The result of these journeys were sketches as well as written text on transparent paper, inspired by people she encountered or conversations she overheard. Looking at the Transparent drawings put together gives the audience a complete overview of Lena's journeys, however each drawing can be looked at separately giving a sense of plurality to the work while each sketch might represent the intimacy of specific stories or people.
